Revealing the hidden pandemic of antibiotic resistance

The launch of the EPN/ReAct Fight AMR campaign at the WHA in Geneva on 20th May 2009 brought together Country Delegates, WHO staff and Civil society, addressing the critical need of leadership and action to contain AMR.

Almost half (28 of 62) of patients could not be treated with available antibiotics due to resistance against these medicines - 86% of these patients were newborns says Dr Florence Najjuka from Makerere University,Uganda.
